Who's ready for Endless Highway?

I know I am. This tribute album (release date: January 30, 2007) comes at the height of my obsession with The Band. I've been less than enthralled with tribute efforts of the past, namely Encomium in which several 90's artists got together and botched song after song from the catalog of Led Zeppelin. But I have high hopes for Endless Highway, because I think songs by the Band are more accessible than those of Led Zeppelin; I mean, look at how great the Last Waltz turned out, e.g. the Staples Singers collaborating on "The Weight," etc.

The playlist can be found at:

I'm especially looking forward to My Morning Jacket's take on "It Makes No Difference" and Blues Traveler's version of "Rag Mama Rag."

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals are performing in New York City on December 4,5, and 6 at the Town Hall. Anyone going? I think I might be going to the show on the 5th (Tuesday). Should be an awesome concert

The Creative Fountain that is Ryan Adams

It's so great to be a fan of Ryan Adams because it seems like he's always coming out with new material. I mean, 8 albums in about 6 years? I can't think of any other artists outputting such high-quality work in such high quantities. Rock on, Ryan!

Greatest Recording by The Band?

What is everybody's favorite recording by The Band? I say "recording" and not "song" because lots of Band songs can be heard in studio or live form, what with The Last Waltz, Before the Flood, and Rock of Ages highlighting a number of live recordings they did. My favorite is the version of "Rag Mama Rag" on Rock of Ages. Great song, but this version stands out from the studio and Last Waltz versions because of the tasteful use of horns and the delicate balance they struck between the horn section and the guitar licks. Great song to wake up to, by the way.

Any radio DJs out there?

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone out there is a radio DJ. I am a radio DJ for Williams College Radio and I just wanted to find others out there like myself. My show is mostly classic rock with some new stuff mixed in. I play a lot of songs by The Band, Led Zeppelin, The Jayhawks, and Ryan Adams, among other artists. My show is Tuesdays 6-8 pm Eastern time. You can listen live at wcfm.williams.edu if you're interested.
