Talking Heads

Artist:
The greatest American rock'n'roll band of all time is Talking Heads. And the main guy isn't even natively American. Pathetic, huh?The first track on the first Talking Heads album is a pageant of contempt. It's addressed to its listeners, it's about its listeners, it sneers freely at its listeners, it defies its listeners to realize the fact. "Uh-Oh, Love Comes to Town." Everything you need to know is right there. You, the listener, are not smart: "Here come the riddle/ Here come a clue/ If you were really smart, you'd know what to do." You aren't the kind of person they prefer to hang around with: "I'd rather be with the one I love/ I neglect my duties/ I'd be in trouble." They can wave it in your face and you wouldn't even realize it. They don't care what you think, feel or believe. You either get them or you're a moron. They could care less. This, from a band that sounds like they're reading their parts from a music stand. The unmitigated gall! The temerity! Number 9, number 9, number 9!
