NRBQ are one of America's Finest Rock and Roll bands of all time. Honestly how does it get much better than this? Sure go ahead say what you will but i'm stickin' with these boys!

You really wish you could have at least eight eyes in your head at one of their shows it's so hard to stay put with how much talent is going on when these guys hit the stage. I've seen them live four or five times. (But not this version with Big Al Anderson...which one is he? C'mon!!!) A blur some years? yes! I went to two shows in one day a few years back and left wishing for a third. I actually had a pass to a party they were playing at that same day but gave it to a friend of mine who hadn't had the chance to see them yet. Damn i wish i hadn't done the right thing. (i'm kidding i would do it again in a second!) But you don't wanna hear about that stuff really do ya? I'll stop before i get carried away the way i always do. Check this one! I bet you have to watch it more than once. I just have to add the one thing. I love all these guys and their musicanship but watching Terry Adams on keys is just so wicked.... A piano is in the percussion instrument family... You really get that point when you see him playing one!

OK. Just added you to my 'Trusted Mogs' as anyone who loves the Q is totally cool by me.

Yes these boys can rip it up and then tear it down ... but you've beaten me to the punch as I had intended to post some of these NRBQ ... Night Music, performances too.

I can't remember which of your posts I had been commenting on a month or so ago ... that had subsequently been eaten ... but I had trusted you back on that one too.

Touching on two of your comments; regarding Terry Adam's 'wicked' approach to playing piano.

I had played a bit of NRBQ on a long drive with a 'new found relative' who is a guitarist and keyboard player ... he commented that he didn't think Terry was all that good as he so often plays out of time and off the beat, while also throwing in a variety of clinker notes outside the scale.

I had to explain that Terry's doing so was not a case of lazy or insufficient technique but entirely intentional ... my 'new found relative' had his doubts about that ... until I played him a few of these clips. To whit, he said he appreciated the vibe and aesthetic of playing R&B with Rock's original intensity and abandon ... bringing a punk sensibility to an older (R&B) form (or maybe I said that).

Anyway, I think he 'got it' a little more after that, still although not completely convinced ;p). So, I think Terry's playing and antics are a bit like Scotch, an acquired taste. Ha.

Then, giving that ticket to a private NRBQ performance away?

Not sure I would have been so generous, but then that must have been a really good friend ... and they owe you Big Time, whether they realize it or not.

Next time you need to make a major move ... that friend should be on speed dial ... to help with all the big items like appliances, matresses, and the sleeper sofa.
