Album:"D" Is For Dubby

Puscifer, Maynard's "groovy" side project got yet another remix album. The first remix album; "V" Is For Viagra put Maynard's tracks in the capable hands of members from such prestigious bands as Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, ISIS and more. The album was refreshing, but didn't really give me a country boner.
This album: "D" Is For Dubby was done entirely by Lustmord; the dark, macabre audio scientist with a penchant for death, crypts and everything creepy. Some TOOL fans may remember his remix of "Parabol/Parabola". Expect the same kind of feel on Dubby.
If you're looking for a high energy album with lots of zing, this is not the album for you. The energy level stays more or less on par with a heroin addict on a beanbag chair, there just isn't any movement going on, but god damn does it feel good to be there! Each track is filled with slow, smooth bass beats with cuts and samples of Maynard's voice in the back ground. There's plenty of delay and in some tracks the faint echo of whales. Reggae dub fans will find themselves right at home with "D" Is For Dubby, but there is also something for your average Puscifer fan as well. There is a very strong ambient feel to the whole album, just disconnect and enjoy it.
From what I've read in various interviews, Maynard wants to keep Puscifer as a living project, something that is always living and changing. I'd imagine he'll give more industry players a crack at the Puscifer tracks.
