I have, for the last several years pinned Franz Ferdinand as a typical "singles" band, they create something really catchey, put it on the radio and then watch the money roll in.
It seems that the band is continuing in this fashion for their latest album, due out on Jan 26th; Tonight. The opening track; Ulysses starts off with a funky whispering and powers into a "scream-along" chorus that just really gets the blood pumping.
Not Ulysses, baby!
The rest of the album tries very hard to capture that same energy, but fails. Exactly like their last attempts with "Take Me Out" and "The Matinee"-- great songs, but the albums just don't do it for me.
In my opinion, you're better off finding Ulysses online and don't even bother with the rest of the album, unless you're a die hard Franz fan and you actually like this stuff.
Franz, you're what's wrong with rock music today. The guys who paved the road for you in the 90's are rolling around in their graves.. just put the guitar down.

Yeah, I may of sounded a little harsh in this review, but I was so hoping I'd like the rest of the album this time around. It's just... not there. I respect your opinion and.. hey, you're Greek too, so brownie points there :)
