Nine Inch Nails Releases Over 400GB Of HD Video For Free

Yes, Trent knows how to appeal to the large segment of computer geeks and technophiles that make up his army of loyal fans. If you visit the Nine Inch Nails site, you will find links to torrent files containing cuts of HD video from the Lights In The Sky tour. Here's a snip from the post:
The internet is full of surprises these days. I was contacted by a mysterious, shadowy group of subversives who SOMEHOW managed to film a substantial amount (over 400 GB!) of raw, unedited HD footage from three separate complete shows of our Lights in the Sky tour. Security must have been lacking at these shows because the quality of the footage is excellent.
Very clever, Trent. Lacking security indeed. The amount of data he has released is staggering to the average user, we're talking more than 400GBs of HD video in MOV format. What the band hopes is that video editors around the world will edit down all of this footage and make something cool out of it and release it in a smaller, more manageable format. This is quite a move for NiN, they've been so progressive with their entire "model". Releasing the "source" to songs and allowing the community to remix them and get a shot at having their mix on an official CD was a real step forward, this is just the next step. I hope that some talented video geeks get their hands on this and churn out something really cool-- did you see/go to the Lights In The Sky tour? It was amazing, did Trent even make anything on that tour, the light show was like some insane, wonderful acid trip.
You never cease to amaze, Mr. Reznor, please don't stop. I'm downloading the footage now, at least some of it, I'd like to see what a 7GB mov file looks like. I can sometimes be found in NiN.com's chat room in #general_2 and #nin.
