dermahrk says I don't know ___ about jazz, either. This is why. I bailed after a minute or two. Give me Louis Armstrong, not bebop. Just cannot get into it.

Spike says Yotochan you know enough about jazz to choose a beautiful, lyrical cut. dermahrk, my gut, like yours, often steers me away from music that others love, and that saves me from musical overload, thank God. I like what your post about authenticity said about Charlie Parker vs. Louis Armstrong.

Wahiawa786 says Bird just flies. (I know even less about Jazz, since there hasn't been a commercial Jazz radio station broadcasting here since the 1980's.) Charlie Parker sounds like the postwar movies bursting off the movie screen in "Cinema Paradiso." As for Louis Armstrong, I remember CBS' "Frank's Place" and the "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans" theme song.
