BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

(30)

Recorded 260 songs wrote upwards of 300. Multi-talented artist who's impact on the Chicago blues scene is unmeasurable. Big Bill was as well liked as he was talented and many a young musician was helped by this giant whose music is "absolutely basic to the blues experience". This selection was recorded in March of 1932. Just Bill and his guitar.

Well, yotochan, here we go again....sort of. I just love Broonzy and this tune. If you'd like to hear a more recent interpretation (sound familiar?), check out my post on Lloyd Jones (actually the second post I've done on him) which includes a live, in-studio performance of this tune by Lloyd. Lloyd takes it a bit more uptempo, but I think you can hear his respect and reverence for Big Bill in his version.

Lloyd's one of our hometown blues treasures here in Portland, and he plays solo Delta-style blues with the same level of passion and musicality that he brings to his full-band funked-up blues.

Not to worry I post things fully aware that others have already posted the same pieces and info, better than me. I'm just having a conversation with whomever will listen. This is what I think is good what do you think, kind of thing. I guess it's just simple validation I'm looking for. It has to be quite an ordeal to continually find unposted music or news about artists. I feel our conversations are edifying. I'll check Lloyd Jones out and get back to you.

Can't go wrong with a Big Bill song. Like the Tampa Red song you presented just the other day, this uses the melody of "I'm Sitting on Top of the World" by the Mississippi Sheiks.
