Good times. I remember trying to figure out all the words with my sister on a road trip the summer that song came out. Have you listened to their other tunes? Many lots better than Freshman, even though that song is pretty good. Brian Vander Ark is one of my favorite lyricists. The Verve Pipe is an undeservedly underrated band.
This song is so high school! I remember seeing the VP/ Tonic/ K's Choice tour in summer '97- very, very good times.
I'm with lemontwist- that record is chock full of great songs (snap, "Myself- holla!).
