Oberst is pure genius, wrapped in a boy's frame.

So, everyone's excited about the new album, "Cassadaga", due out in April. And, "Four Winds", the new EP due out in March, too. Everyone loves Conor and his slightly varied style of music, his collaborations with other musicians, and his willingness to be outspoken.

I was thinking about his previous albums, when I listened to "Noise Floor" a few days ago, and I decided that "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" is my favorite Bright Eyes album. The album is just as close to Conor perfect as you can get.

It's the only album I own, where it's impossible to pick a favorite song. They're all my favorite. The sound is amazing, the lyrics are near-perfect, and the artwork is definately something to write home about.

Let's go to a birthday party.

Absolutely agree. I've listened to lots of his albums, and "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning" is definitely my favorite. Tough to pick the best tracks .... tons of good songs, as you said, but my favorites (if I were forced to pick) are Lua, First Day of My Life, and Land Locked Blues.

The world's got me dizzy again...

road to joy is mine...and although that album is amazing to say the least...digital ash in a digital urn is right up there..and possibly better than wide awake (imho).

cassadaga is defintely one of my most anticipated albums of 07

Absolutely. Conor is a genius. Does it ever annoy you how much fluff he releases though? I think I'm Wide Awake is pure brilliance, it's actually my favourite album ever... But Noise Floor and the other rarity, b-side albums are kinda mediochre.

I'm Wide Awake blew me away from the first listen, and I don't know about you guys, but that's rare for me. It was fresh, witty and musically beautiful. Emmylou Harris was a perfect compliment.

You love her. Who wouldn't love Rosie Thomas?

"If Songs Could Be Held" is my favorite Rosie album, partly because I associate how the video for "Pretty Dress" was amazingly done. I find myself able to listen to the album time and time again, often in a row, without boring or becoming even the least bit tired of the songs. What a beautiful voice, with lyrics to accompany it.

She's really got a nice little pocket of wonderful, semiundiscovered music, here.
