Well the rain's gonna come,
Come and wash away all of our sins.
And if the dam doesn't break,
We'll go and we'll wash it away with some gin.
I can't get over the way he forms a lyric. I think I like this unreleased/bootleg/whatever better than his official stuff. This album is really amazing. Give Walls a listen if you haven't already.

Just wanted to introduce myself to the Mog-osphere. The name's Jimmy. I live in Columbus, OH now but I was born near Philadelphia, PA - where the food is great and the music is better!
I have benefited from living near such a major city in many ways but the most important in my opinion is the music I was exposed to on a regular basis.
I was a concert freak for most of my life and I've seen so many bands I couldn't even recount them all right now. I will try to recall some of the more memorable shows throughout my life as an exercise in awakening. You see, my concert going has not been going unfortunately.
Columbus isn't always a city that shows up on many bands "must play" list. I know you're saying, "but you could travel to Cincinnati or Cleveland" but that's not always preferable. So this exercise will be an attempt to rekindle that love and hopefully motivate me to seek out the live music I crave.
I have really been fortunate to have seen some of the best - The Grateful Dead at Vet Stadium, U2 at JFK Stadium in the '80s, Pink Floyd (sans Syd but what can you do, right?), Genesis and The Cure. Strange mix, no? I say it's strange but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I think of live music as church. Spiritual when done properly and down right full-on religious when it's someone like Gov't Mule or other bands whose motivation is pure.
Throughout my life I've used music to heal, mend or otherwise recoup something lost and it's treated me well. But then I turned thirty and the first sign of intolerance peeked through in that "there are just no good bands anymore. What happened to bands like blah, blah, blah?" Sad really.
So I've recently attempted to regain what has been lost to me for too many years now by seeking out the new and interesting and giving it all a chance in the spirit it was created.
I have been thinking of the only Replacements show I was lucky enough to see. We saw them at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, I think. This was in 1990. They really seemed more disfunctional than I expected them to be but the show was tight and on! The Tower was a great venue. I also saw Slayer there around the same time (again, I think). I keep saying "I think" because I have a terrible memory. I do remember the show because it was a huge event for me. The 'Mats are still, to this day, one of those bands that can help me get over something or put me in a better mood or whatever adjustment needs to be made in my head or heart. So if any of the guys are out there somewhere, thanks. Thanks for all the good tunes and for that show at the Tower especially.

A warm welcome to MOG.
I moved to the Philly area in '76, saw The Stones and McCartney (twice) at the Vet, many shows at the Tower, and a lot more around the Delaware Valley. These days I tend to go to the smaller, more comfortable venues unless....well, I don't know. Never made it to JFK before they tore it down.
Columbus, OH - not the largest city but not the smallest, either. You have it better than some, worse than others.
Is that avatar taken from a Roxy Music album? Similar pose, I think. Obviously, Jimmy, it ain't you...(damn!)
Again, welcome.
