MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

Artist:

Stewart Copeland lookalike Zack Hexum is an awesome pop-rock lyricist. So why haven't you heard of him???

If you happen to be around San Francisco on Wednesday, Dec. 6, he'll be playing a little I've-never-of-heard-before venue called the Rockit Room. C'mon, it's $5 -- why pass on this?

I discovered Zack Hexum thanks to iTunes. His delightful pop treat "How Many Times" was the featured free song of the week in February 2006 -- a song I dutifully put on my iPod and fell in love with. (No-so-secret Secret #36: ALWAYS download iTunes' free download of the week. One out of four times it's probably a great song.) Then I caught him live at the Epic Arts Studio in Berkeley back in May. I met him afterward, got his autograph, etc. He's really a nice guy. So he gets my respect. And this plug.

If you're still not convinced, here's a clip of him way back in 2004 when he performed "Spicy Streak" on "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn":

I gotta say I'm surprised - that's kinda nice. I like those verses. Funny that Craig goes, "Hey, I want you to play on my show, but play the song I like!"
