"I know classical is selling faster than any other kind of music in the industry" -Katherine Jenkins

Indeed? And just how does Miss Jenkins know this?
Classical music, last this humble little artist knew, was suffering. Just because Katherine's psuedo-classical albums are doing well in the charts doesn't mean... well, it doesn't mean.
And not to sound elitist or anything... but the beginning of the article from whence that quote came leaves a very sour who-does-she-think-she-is taste in my mouth.

'Classical music is the new rock and roll,' said Katherine Jenkins confidently, 'or at least that's what I read.'

Jenkins and I were discussing the chances of her scoring a No 1 single in the pop charts and plunging a fatally elegant heel through the dying heart of remaining stereotypes.

“I know classical is selling faster than any other kind of music in the industry but the people who buy it aren’t the type who download music or buy singles,” she reasoned, from a clean white hotel room overlooking Cardiff Bay.

“It’s a different market to pop and that’s why it won’t happen.”

Perhaps the mezzo soprano underestimates her draw...

Sounds like a lot of baloney to me!
Katherine's voice is a fairly lovely instrument, but the more closely I follow her career, the more disenchanted I can't help becoming. Suffice to say that too much hype turns me off.
