Dang. It's been forever. I'm missing the Mog world and also felt the need to share my obsession with the new release of some of Elliott Smith's earlier recordings. Anyone else pick this up yet? Amazing stuff..I'm especially loving 'Talking to Mary' and 'High Times'.

it is numbingly difficult to figure why mere mortals would try to understand and or feel the suffering of an ultimately lost soul. we are all reborn every single day in her vague yet pissworthy template. i wrote these somewhat minimal dreams via my ultimate tableau. no one is sadder than us..?

So I could drive around all night in the rain listening to music. Seriously, there's nothing better.

In other news..."Such Great Heights" on a commercial? noooo! Oh well, it is a postal service commercial, so that makes it almost okay.

If I remember correctly a version of that song was used in an M&M's commercial as well.

I love your first statement!! So true...and I have settled on the fact that in this era of file sharing, great artists will need to do the commercial thing...its a trade off

This will be the first time I hear any of their music- I'm looking forward to it.

And to top it off, there's this to look at in between their performances.

I love the Shins music. However, I've seen them live twice (Loolazpalooza, Chicago, August 2006 and Seattle Dec 2006) and have never been so disappointed. You know the saying f%k me once, shame on you, f^k me twice shame on me? Let's just say there won't be a 3rd time. And I enjoy their CD's so much, too. Hopefully they don't botch SNL completely and you can remain happy.
