I got the news on Wednesday morning. My "friend" had decided to give their Radiohead ticket to someone else. I was crushed and then panic set in. How was I supposed to get to the show? I wrote a friend about my plight. He's pretty much the penultimate Radiohead fan. He wrote back "You need to be there, so you will. Make it so." When I initially read it, I laughed and cursed him, but then the wisdom set in. Of course he was correct.eBay and Craigslist were ugly. Section A tickets were going for upwards of $2000 on eBay and it was all about "make me an offer" on Craigslist. I wasn't going to settle for anything less than Section A. I couldn't. This was Radiohead and I hadn't missed an LA appearance yet. I refreshed Craiglist constantly, set up an RSS alert feed for myself and then did the same for eBay. On Thursday David Hyman posted that he had an extra ticket for Friday's show. "[S]eats are box seats up close. i’ve got two extra tickets. i’ll be there. wanna go? why?"

I posted why I wanted to go and left it in the comments. It was my real last hope. I had even passed on some tickets that were offered to me because I had to be there (in a box) and I wasn't going to settle.Winners were announced Friday and I was one of the lucky ones. I could barely contain my excitement. I was going to Radiohead. I was going to Radiohead! David and I corresponded a bit and agreed to meet at the box office of the Greek Theatre. Another mogger called Greg joined as well as David's sister-in-law. Everyone was super cool and we bonded over an amazing show. The show itself was stunning and surpassed all of my highest expectations. They had cameras all over the stage with feeds going to projectors for both sides of the stage. The lighting was magnificent. And the sound was stellar. The set opened with "Airbag," the opening track from OK Computer. I was in awe. It sounded gorgeous and filled me with the most intense happiness I can remember. I needed it. When they went into "The National Anthem" I was nearly brought to tears and it was totally out of my control. THe rest of the night just sailed by. I danced, cheered and watched one of the best live shows ever.

When they played "Exit Music" a few people were yelling and Thom told them to shut up, which was awesome. LA audiences can really suck like that. David said you could hear a pin drop during the quiet ones at the Berkley shows. For the few times I've seen them perform "Idioteque" live, I think it's one of the best live songs. Another highlight was during the second encore when Thom played "True Love Waits" (one of my favorite Radiohead songs) and Johnny was messing around with Thom's voice then they went straight into "Everything In It's Right Place," which was a fitting end to their US tour and my evening. If I died on the way home, I'd have died a very happy man.The Complete Setlist01 Airbag02 The National Anthem03 There There04 15 Step05 Exit Music06 Bodysnatchers07 My Iron Lung08 Nude09 Videotape10 I Might Be Wrong11 Climbing Up The Walls12 All I Need13 Pyramid Song14 Spooks15 Idioteque16 Myxomatosis17 Bangers 'n Mash18 BonesEncore 119 Like Spinning Plates20 Fake Plastic Trees21 Down Is The New Up22 Paranoid AndroidEncore 223 House of Cards24 True Love Waits25 Everything In Its Right Place
