Not one of the most prolific moments to come from Mr Vanian but a fun song from a great release. The Black Album. Captain probably wrote it and insisted that it show up.
To me this was the beginning of the end. While many consider this the crap era I put The Black Album (and most of Strawberries for that matter) up there with Machine Gun Etiquette and Damned, Damned, Damned. Once they reach Phantasmagoria the end was near and it rang loud and true with Anything.
I was able to see them on the Phantasmagoria tour. It was a good show and the crowd was all over them. The venue was over-sold (again) and everyone had fun. The "goth" era music isn't bad. Just a lot of it is okay...at best.
I don't think there is anyone to blame or anything like this. For a band to be consistently good is tough. In the end they were just expanding their reach. They've broken up, come back only to break up again.
Seen them a couple of times when they got together this last time with the Captain. And the shows are good. The album...eh...it's okay. I am bummed that Rat couldn't make it back. And I am more than happy to see that Patricia is out. She sucks as a bass player. Period.
Don't let 'em get you down.
