WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Raconteurs? Oh Well...

Posted over 3 years ago
I love the White Stripes, their rough feel, their minimalism, hell... even Meg White's drumming. When I heard Jack White had a side project I was excited. I didn't expect it to be The White Stripes but I though it whould show another side of Jack White. When "Steady As She Goes" came out I was not impressed, but it time I grew to like the song. When "Broken Boy Soldiers" I had come to the conclusion that I like The Raconteurs. Working at a radio station I got a copy with no trouble. It wasn't very good. I put it on, sung along to "Steady As She Goes" and rubbed my hands together in anticipation. "Hands" came on and my smile faded, but all hope was not lost, it wasn't really bad. Broken Boy Soldiers started and Jack White started whinning, it WAS really bad. As the album when on, it got more, and more lethargic. By the end I felt let down by one of my favorite guitarists. Oh well, its just music.

  1. Don19001 says I agree that BBS is nowhere near as good as a White Stripes cd, but it is still better than most rock records that came out this year. Maybe you went in with expectations set too high. I give Jack points for trying somethingnew, varying the sound from track to track, collaborating by being roughly one forth of a band. If nothing else, it will keep the Stripes from getting tired and their next disc will sound that much better. I say give it another chance and it may grow on you. Heck it's only 29 minutes long.
