MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

I just responded to another post about a musical journey, and it brought to mind the ability that music has to evoke rich memories of times long past.. so vivid that you can recall even the smells around you at the time.. and so what are the songs in your rich life tapestry that evoke these long past memories.. for good or bad?

For me, the good might be Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow, recalling my not so long ago Hawaiian honeymoon.. the not-so-good might be listening to Bob Seger's Against the Wind, playing in a small bar in Whitefish, Montana, sharing a Pabst with my best friend who died a year later.. I still get shivers when I hear Bob sing, "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then".

Yes dude, I think you've tapped a universal thought their my friend. Certain songs become so tied to a time and place, good or terrifying, that hearing them (sometimes) can send a cold shiver to your spiritual center. Every now and again "Paint It, Black" can turn my blood to water.
