OK, I'm new to this, so, give me some slack. I've been away from staying up on music for much too long, but am now looking forward to get back to it. Thanks first to dermahrk for making me aware of this site. ok, Giving my first shot at a post.
The Elvis Brothers are one band that always lit up a party and made you have to get up and dance. Fun, fun music. This video clip by Ken Mottet gives a good oversight of their history.
I can't find any digital audio from their albums (maybe someday I'll figure out how to make them from my vinyl colection) but did find this video clips from You-tube. Don't let the first few seconds scare you off.
Any addition clips or audio files (especially of a song titled "Red Dress") you can provide would be much appreciated

The Elvis Brothers (who I think of heard of but never heard) history was fascinating. Unfortunately, the music starts in the last 9 seconds, sounds GREAT, then the vid is over. OK, time to go to vid #2. Ahhh, that's better. The opening reminds me of Alec Baldwin having a loving heart-to-heart with his little girl. :)
I really like these guys - Powerpop for sure. I can definitely hear the Cheap Trick influence.
I'm impressed that you could post a YouTube video first time out of the gate. That intimidated me for quite some time.
I'm also pleasantly surprised by your tastes in music. The parallels - Nick Lowe, Todd & Utopia, Pursuit of Happiness (whom NO ONE has posted about yet, I think), John Hiatt, etc. etc.
A warm welcome to MOG!

Uncle Ken's a stiff, but the band chugs along quite nicely. I certainly would have picked up this music had I known about it at the time - guess I left the Midwest just before they got started.

Fabulous first post waydutch, and welcome to MOG! Enjoyed both the 'history' and the Elvis Brothers viddie. These guys are kickin' - almost certain I've heard Motormouth before, but had no idea who performed the song. Will definitely add Elvis Brothers to my must have music list. Thanks for the listen, and have fun exploring the Mog-o-sphere! :-)
Ditto dermahrk's statement about being impressed that you could immediately post a youtube video - think you will fit in quite nicely around here!

Wecome! Good opening post! You'll fit in here for sure. I like the fact you reference Brinsley Schwarz on your MOG page. Cool!

Yeah, even though I have almost every Nick Lowe CD, and know he started out in Brinsley Schwarz, I've never heard that band - which I need to do. Hint, hint....

Welcome to MOG!! That beat from the second video made me feel like I was listening to AC DC!!!

The only Elvis Brothers video i ever saw on MTV (i think it was their first) wsas shot in New Orleans; it starts with them running afoul of some big guy in the Quarter and running away, and finally finishing up playing at a club.
First time i saw the video, i thought the club looked familiar - it was Jimmy's, which, in the latter 80's was Dash Rip Rock's home base.
The funny thing is that when i recently rewatched the ivdeo, i recognised where they started from in the Quarter, and checked an online map service - and it's like eight miles from the Quarter to Jimmy's.
And they ran the whole way.
That's almost as good as the chase scene in Freejack, where they turn right off Prior Street in Downtown Atlanta and suddenly they're crossing the Brooklyn Bridge (or the GW or whatever) into Manhattan...

It's so cool to see someone else who is familiar with The Elvis Brothers!
