I was hooked at the title. 'Acres Of Suede' is a collection of words that demands to be bought. And on the evidence of this I wouldn't be disappointed.

Some years back, a buddy of mine was the door guy at the old Cotton Club in Atlanta.

He'd let me in free for acts i wasn't sure i would like well enough to pay for.

I paid full price for the second and third times i saw Webb Wilder there.

If you don't know anything about him, he also made several fairly strange films, particularly Horror Hayride, in which he played Webb Wilder (real stretch), a musician and confidential investogator for the Governor of Tennessee.

It features most if not all of the songs from his album, Doo Dad, including a psychedelic sequence set to I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night.

And a song not on the album: If You Don't Think Elvis is Number One, You're Full of Number Two.

The Webb Wilder Credo, found on his web page:

    Work hard
    Rock hard
    Eat hard
    Sleep hard
    Grow big
Wear glasses if you need 'em!

His live performances of it are pretty cool, too.
