Sonny Landreth- Zydecoldsmobile

Posted almost 4 years ago
A brief diversion from my quest to overexpose John Hiatt. This fun tune from Sonny Landreth, who has played with John often, from his 2000 release "Levee Town". ..Sonny is a gifted singer songwriter in his own right and a real musician's musician having done extensive work for others including Hiatt. On his own work he displays a distinctive guitar sound all his own. He's another guy who deserves much more attention than he's ever got. .Sonny's unorthodox guitar style comes from the manner in which he simultaneously plays slide and makes fingering movements on the fret board. The results can be truly impressive. .

  2. Sturgell says For some reason, this guy is way more upbeat than I thought he'd be.

  3. Chaos Cowboy says I agree with Sturgell. I think it's because the picture makes him look like he's an indian in some old daguerreotype. These songs are excellent, though. This guy is very cool. I've recently discovered Hiatt. He writes some greats songs and has one of the most strangely distinct voices out there.

  5. dermahrk says I love both of 'em. But I only own a couple of Landreth CDs, and not this one. I saw him live in Philly last year and he blew the roof off the place.

  6. Sturgell says Yeah, I don't know. I thought it was going to be a little more rockin' is all.
