I am not English in the sense that I was born or lived there, but I am English in lineage. It is the closest I can ome to some sort of identifiable foreign element of my heritage, I still have family members in England. Thus, when various family members came to the USA, I always found whatever they brought over or told me fascinating. As such, I developed an affinity for things English-hell, I'm still pissed about losing to Portugal in the World Cup. While looking for radio stations on the internet (via wiki), I found the BBC1 webstream. For the most part, it's got A LOT of American Top 40. Fuck that, I can listen to K-92 if I want that. I want to hear, well, British bands. I came back from class today, and heard a track, that upon hearing it, sounded very Arctic Monkeys-ish, "Starz in their Eyes", by Just Jack:They'll be making sure you stay amusedThey'll fill you up with drugs and boozeMaybe you'll make the evening newsAnd when you're tripping over your dreamsThey'll keep you down by any meansand by the end of the night you'll be stifling your screamsSince you became a VIPersonIt's like your problems have all worsenedYour paranoia casts aspersionsOn the truths you knowAnd they'll just put you in the spotlightAnd hope that you'll do alrightOr maybe notNow why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? Why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?So why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?Starz in their eyes?Remember they said you'd show them allEmphasise the rise but not the fallAnd now you're playing a shopping mallYour mum and dad they can't believeWhat you appear to have achievedWhile the rest of these users are just laughing in their sleevesSince you became a VIPersonIt's like your problems have all worsenedYour paranoia casts aspersionsOn the truths you knowAnd now the tabloids use your faceTo document your fall from graceAnd then they'll tell you that that's just the way it goesThat's just the way it goesNow why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? It's the same old story well they just didn't realiseAnd it's a long way to come from the dog and duck karaoke machineAnd Saturday night's drunken dreamsNow why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? It's the same old story well they just didn't realiseAnd it's a long way to come from your private bedroom dance routinesAnd Saturday night's drunken dreamsNow why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? Why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?So why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?Starz in their eyes? Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? It's the same old story well they just didn't realiseAnd it's a long way to come from the dog and duck karaoke machineAnd Saturday night's drunken dreams(When I grow up im going to be famous)Behind the steel barrier and sequence and glitterFive inch heels still knee deep in the litterEach of them a bitter bullshitter,Wrapped up in the cloak of fake glamour, getting lost in the cameraWell footprints are fools gold, diamonds crusts on their one off plimsollsSo little time for these one off arseholesRigour mortis Ken and Barbie dolls,A pair of big shades and a push up bra,It's such a short gap between the gutter and stars,That you've come a long way from the place that you startedSo why'd you wanna go and get so down heartedWelcome to the kingdom of the blaggerUncutting you nose clean, coating you bladderA whole lot happier a whole lot sadder,Used to be satisfied but now you feel like Mick Jagger,Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? It's the same old story well they just didn't realiseAnd it's a long way to come from the dog and duck karaoke machineAnd Saturday night's drunken dreamsNow why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes? It's the same old story well they just didn't realiseAnd it's a long way to come from your private bedroom dance routinesAnd Saturday night's drunken dreams------------Wow. This seems like an indictment of the Arctic Monkeys, and their rise to fame-though AM had two tracks against no one in particular: "Fake Tales" and "From the Ritz to the Rubble"-through their same style. BUT,call me an uniformed American, but Just Jack seem to write whatever comes to their mind, making anything rhyme. Maybe they should listen to some Ghostface. edithe's one guy, who's supposed to be garage.
