WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

M-TV on the Radio?

Posted over 2 years ago
let's admit something: I watch MTV. I don't listne to many fo the bands they promote/show for the few hours their flagship station plays during the day, otuside of a few hip-hop artsists. In fact, i think the only "MTV" artist I actually like is My Chemical Romance. MTV has not served as a place for independent artists since the demise of the program "120 Minutes", which has been shrunk down, moved, renamed, and put on at a suck-ass time slot as "subterranean" on MTV2. On Subterranean, I would expect to find artists like TV On The Radio, Mew, and CSS (where I first heard about them). Hell,.they even played Muse. MTV1, we'll call it, is not where I would expect to find TV on the Radio. While TRL had Lady Sov's "Love Me or Hate Me" at the top of the charts a few days, it still serves as a launching board/giant support system for bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic! and artists like Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. TV on the Radio, I would guess, is not a band they're gonna thrust upon the teeny boppers. TVOTR are 1)good and 2)filled with band members in their late-20s/early 30s. They're not someone you put in front of a young demographic. Hell, MTV wouldn't thrust Interpol or Bloc Party on their demo past 9 a.m. But, as I was watching the channel, I heard some familiar chords. Was it? It was! It was "Wolf Like Me"! My favorite song of 2006, was on MTV. However, it was simply used in a promo for the upcoming Tuesday Night lineup for MTV. Though the song is heard only as bed music, I wonder if it will be used in their "10 Spot Drop" (which I think is going to be discontinued because MTV is focusing on new lineups starting at 9 P.M.). Previous artists featured in the "10 Spot Drop" were M.I.A. and hellogoodbye. I fucking hate hellogoodbye, but M.I.A. is awesome, and still isn't that famous on MySpace (I did put one of her songs up on my page. Right now it's "Long Time" by the Roots). Hopefully, TVOTR won't get that popular.WAIT! This is MOG., Bullets! By which I mean dashes-i watch MTV-heard "Wolf Like Me" in a promo-hope it doesn't make TV on the Radio famous-I didn't make a Sonic Youth reference, but I wanted to. -Here's an unrelated YouTube video:

  4. watchbatteries says I know what :) means, it's just that emoticons are more vague than they are straightforward. As for the video tip, I don't get IMF (basic cable) and I can find anything I need on YouTube.

  8. watchbatteries says No, it's not that. I always open doors for people-well, mostly women, it seems. Call it chivalry, call it what you will. I get rewarded with a quick smile and a "Thank You", and it's enough to warrant a bit of madness in my mind. Hey, it's Arctic Monkeys. Yay shuffle feature.
