Marilyn Manson Has NOTHING On Slayer!

Posted over 2 years ago
Allow me to begin by saying that the billing is Slayer/Marilyn Manson, with opening guest Bleeding Through. The show I saw was third in this tour (which lasts until 1 September) at Hi Fi Buys Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA on Saturday 28 July 2007.Further tour dates "here":http://www.soundchronicle.com/concert-news/marilyn-manson-and-slayer-announced-summer-2007-tourSlayer "Wiki":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SlayerOpening act, "Bleeding Through":http://www.bleedingthrough.com/ held their own, packing much thrash power into a 30 minute set.Marilyn Manson kind of phoned it in, though the kids liked it. I mean he's a helluva showman, but the songs all sound the same after awhile and I find myself picking apart composition to find from where riffs and rhythms have been appropriated.(and yes, he was headlining. Don't want to take anything away from the showmanship involved, but...)But fucking "Slayer!!!!!":http://www.slayer.net/Lasting only about an hour, this set was fierce and demanded attention.Don't exactly know why they opened for MM, but I am thankful for the experience. Having never seen them live, I count my blessings."Setlists for tour first night":http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=77580Here is the closing track, as taken from the album Reign In Blood:Slayer's performance from Rock Am Ring June 2007 can be found for DL "here":http://live-bootleg.blogspot.com/search/label/Slayer and offers a very similar setlist to the show I witnessed.Go for the Slayer!

  4. wassonii says And they were gracious, too. Slayer's music may not be for all, but their proficiency on their instruments deserves attention, as well as their appreciation for their fanbase. Indeed, RobinH! Jonh, glad to be of service to your earhole:)
