Strange And Wondrous

Had to hip y'all to an interesting blog called "Mutant Sounds":http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/ (note: I do not write for it, just stumbled happily on it)A mad variety of odd and inaccessible. A great variety from the Nurse With Wound List as well as other gems of odd from around the globe. Prolific posting with much knowledge to be gleaned, even if you have no further interest other than pretty album covers and good writing. Some of my recent pulls:"Throbbing Gristle (tape/230 copies) Nothing Short Of Total War, 1977":http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/2007/02/throbbing-gristle-nothing-short-of.html"Foetus Deaf and Ache albums 1981/2":http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/2007/02/foetus-deaf-ache-lps-19812-uk.html"Catherine Ribeiro and Alpes Paix 1972":http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/2007/02/catherine-ribeiro-alpes-paix-1972france.htmlThis last one is an amazing group out of France. They are on the NWW list, which is why I got the first offering, but I got the others due to their sound. I promise you will not be dissapointed in this artist/group. There are actually four offerings from them at mutant sounds. Image from album art, not cover. For cover, follow link.

  1. Spike says The site reveals to me once again that there are too many stange and possibly wonderful activities going on in the world to begin to fathom. You're right, some of the artwork is beautiful, all of it is edgy. I want someone to sort all the music for me into two piles: the beautiful, and the rest.

  2. Kate says Hey Wassonii, thanks for this link! What a great blog. Perhaps you will enjoy one of my favorite music blogs, Bumrocks (http://www.bumrocks.com). No writing, just 1 strange track a day.

  3. Spike says Kate, thanks for the tip about Bumrocks. So far my favorite is Bill Withers' "You Got the Stuff."

  4. wassonii says From "Mutant Sounds on Ribeiro + Alpes - Ame Debout":http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/2007/02/catherine-ribeiro-alpes-ame-debout.html "The wind is blowing, Catherine is singing and the music reaches new levels. It is touching and dark just like Nick Drake. Still it is so experimental and it works really good. Many worlds come together on this album. Makes me feel better." So, Spike, I can vouch for this piece as being beautiful, having retrieved and listened. From acoustic nuance to strange pulsing rhythms, soundscapes odd and translucent: through it all Ribeiro's voice keeps it all intact end earthen. Though, truly, much of the musicks MS has to offer are unapproachable by most, but some things are musickal:) Kate, thanks very much for the link. Hadn't gotten to that post yet, but Withers, and more... damn! manythanks.
