my winter playlist

Artist:Elliot Smith
I dusted off my winter playlist today, since the weather has finally gotten cold here. Okay, so it's supposed to be 70 degrees today, but it was like 40 overnight...First on the list is Elliot Smith. For some reason, I just can't listen to him when it's warm and sunny outside. I have Either/Or, XO, and From a Basement on the Hill. Also some Ash. Haven't heard anything new from them lately, but in the late 90's, I was really into them. And it happened to be winter at the time, so there's the reason they are on this list. Albums: 1977 and Trailer.Coolhand Band. They were originally from Madison, WI (or more specifically, Waukesha). They were houseguests a few times before they moved here to Austin. One of those times was in the winter, and I called in "sick" to work a couple of days to hang out with them. The day they were supposed to leave, I was sad, and trudged off to work. But we had our big "ice storm" that day, so the highways were shut down, and they had to stay one more day. Yay!Radiohead. Just somehow fitting for winter.Rufus Wainwright - Want One.Sebadoh - harmacy. Brings back nice memories of a particular winter.Tricky - Maxinquaye and Pre-Millenium Tension. Same winter. Hanging out at my regular bar, with the regular people. I think I may have even spent Christmas Eve at the bar that year. The only song I'm missing is "Give a Little Bit". I have one version, but the one I really want (and can't find) is from the Gap xmas ads a few years ago, sung by Robbie Robertson. What else sounds good in the wintertime?
