WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Mark Eitzel does Curtis Mayfield

What are your thoughts on this? Mark put out 2 cover albums in the early part of this century and personally I dig them. "Move On Up" was an interesting choice of song to cover especially hearing the original which was done mostly in falseto.

  6. poebegone says I dig it! I'm with you and dermahrk on paying respect (at the very least) to covers that do not ape the original, which is just downright lazy. And to answer your posted question, I dig the Mark Eitzel covers because, aside from still sounding like him, they also seem to liberate him from a "genre" that people unfortunately decided was the thing he did.
