I am moving up to Burlington for this weekend in August - with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals playing the festival on Saturday and Derek Trucks Band playing on Sunday - Summer in Vermont just doesn't get any better than this!!
VERMONT’S OWN GRACE POTTER RETURNS TO THE BURLINGTON WATERFRONT Grace and the Nocturnals Headline 2nd Annual Lake Champlain Maritime Festival
Burlington, VT (April 12, 2008) This summer’s Lake Champlain Maritime Festival guarantees great entertainment for its second annual celebration, and nothing could be bigger than Vermont’s Grace Potter and the Nocturnals as they return to Burlington on August 16th at 6pm. Potter says, "The magic oflast year's waterfront show was truly unforgettable for us. We'll cross our fingers for the same golden weather, but rain or shine, it's a hometown show and the crown jewel in our summer tour."
Virtuoso singer-songwriter-instrumentalist Grace Potter is a true rising star in the music world. And save some room in your concert calendar for The Derek Trucks Band, just added to the bill and performing the following night, Sunday, August 17. Defined by blending jazz, Eastern Indian, rock, blues, Latin and other world music, guitarist Trucks and his band throw down some very electrifying sounds that will prove to be the perfect successor to Potter’s waterfront vibes.
Higher Ground presents the concerts as part of the Maritime Festival at the magnificent Waterfront Park, and tickets (for both?) go on sale Friday, April 18 at 11AM. They may be purchased online at www.highergroundmusic.com, charged by phone at 888-512-SHOW, or in person at the Higher Ground box office.
The Lake Champlain Maritime Festival, August 17-19, embraces the celebration of Vermont’s own “great lake” and the vibrant waterfront in all its splendor. For more information please go to www.lcmfestival.com or call 802-482-3313.

Lositossn, I guess we didn't have to keep this quite for long Snowbird. Going to be a great summer. Noc's, Derek and Susan Anais several times. I heard the line up for the Concerts on the green in Shelburne will be one of the best ever.

Burlington/Vt can't wait until your arrival owllover. I just saw Robert Cray in Febuary and Keb Mo in Feb 07. This is going to be great show also. Both are outstanding guitarists (is that a word) and have wonderful bands backing them. I'm a little concerned about Roberts keyboard player he's got to be about 100 years old.

Concert at Shelburne sounds like a fantastic way to spend a summer night. Now, which to go to - Robert Cray is at the top of the list and Melissa Etheridge is a pretty awesome guitarist herself, have never seen her live yet. Have I said that I love summer music in VT - well - there now I have!

well, my butt would be seeing Robert Cray. at Crossroads he was one of my fave performances. I have seen M.E. although it was a looong time ago. It was pretty cool-it was at a venue that she said was the place she saw her 1st concert. (she was born and raised in Leavenworth KS-not far from KC). she said she was sitting way way up top in the back of the house, not far from where I was sitting since I just bought the tickets the day of the show. About 1/2 way thru she left the stage for a bit, and when she came back she was set up in the back of the house, making the back the front and the front the back..so there she was right in front of me. I'm sure the people in the 1st row were pissed, but it was such a nice thing for her to do. She did 4 or 5 numbers and then returned to the front stage. I thought that was pretty cool. Robert Cray is less pop and more blues which is why I'd choose him if I had to choose between the 2. But...both would be a GOOD TIME!

Yup, I am more blues than pop for sure, cool story about Melissa, she can rock pretty well - even though she does fall into that mainstream pop category.
Thanks for the story!

another funny thing about the M.E. show-I remember there were NO all male bathrooms. The feMALE's took over the entire bathroom scene--you know how usually the ladies restrooms there are lines a mile long, and you always wish there were twice as many? well, the LADIES at the show were using any and every bathroom there was...so the mens rooms were also the ladies rooms, and the ladies rooms were also the ladies rooms. it made me giggle. not a whole lot of men in the house anyway...
