Had to Cry Today

Posted almost 4 years ago
“This kid deserves to be in the same class with Stevie Ray F*&cking Vaughan and Jimmy Hendrix and Jeff Beck.”– Rock guitarist Ted Nugent after a recent jam with Joe for VH-1’s Supergroup My good friend Owllover turned me on to Joe just last night, and it's hard to believe that this young guitar wizard was born in 1977. That's about when I was very into Clapton, Jeff Beck and Robin Trower. Joe's intrepretation of this classic not only pays tribute to these legends but shows his own personal style and virtousity. I'm liking it - thanks Amy!

  1. Vtshome says Don't cry Snowbird....Our friend turned me on to him last week and after I listen to the link she sent, not this one, I had to run right out to get a CD. It turns out that Joe is a DJ on Surius Blues channel. I listen to it all the time but never realized. Sometimes there is great stuff right under your nose if you just look. Thanks from me too.....................Hon

  2. vtsnowbird26 says Hey no tears from Vts - sharing music is very cool - whenever it happens. She sent me Mountain Time, saying it made her think of me in the Green Mountains - and that's what send me digging for more. Good stuff!

  3. The Deads says Hi Snowbird, great stuff, I have not heard that guy before. Did you realize that the video is taken in Germany. Joe is playing the Rockpalast (you can see the logo at the beginning of the video), That is exactly the show where I would like to place GPTN in the near future. GPTN are great fans of the Rockpalast and they know almost everything about the Rockpalast (especially Scott and Brian). Rockpalast is tho oldest rock television show in Europe, more than 30 years old. Maybe you have seen the GPTN interview with Little Feat when they are talking about the first Rockpalast night in 1978 (I was there). Rockpalast was at the time a show, which could be seen in whole Europe. Grateful Dead played there in 1981 with the Who as an opener. Klaus

  5. The Deads says Some questions: When do you sleep, it must be about 3am on the East Coast? No I haven`t heard Grace. Maybe I have to listen more carefully to the video. At what time can she be heard? Next GPTN show, well, will be in June (you know June 6th is the first anniversary of my first GPTN show), but this will be a very short trip, just for the two shows, and I hope I can bring somebody from a radio station who will support my plans to place GPTN at Rockpalast. 6. vtsnowbird26 says Hey Klaus - I guess I'm just a little bit late in posting this for you - Joe was justing touring Europe - Holland and Germany to be specific - with shows in Munich, Berlin and Hanover just last week! If you can bring GPTN to Germany and the Rockpalaast, I know they would be well received - and while Grace isn't singing on this version of the song, I believe what tipi meant was that he feels that she would sound great covering this song along with the rest of the nocturnals. I would have to agree!!

  7. owllover says Bonamassa ROCKS!! I can't get enough of this guy. And how fun is it that our friend Klaus knows all about the Rockpalast!! I'm telling you this venue looks to be a perfect fit for the Nocturnals!! And I highly recommend all get the DVD of Bonamassa at the Rockpalast. it is worth EVERY PENNY and then some. It isn't the same if you don't see this guy perform, see the guitars he plays..see that bass player...and then there is the venue. blows my mind again and again as I play it over and over and over.
