brendan bell, singer of the rhode island band that you no doubt won't have heard of but should listen to, gruvis malt, wrote this album over three years. it is written and recorded from a game boy, using a cartridge called nanoloop that taps into its soundchip. the most remarkable thing under all the layers of electronic sound, however, unsurprisingly given his musical background, is the songwriting.
hanapepe dream is such a wicked album. a mix of various african, carribean and american styles, performed fantastically by the great taj mahal this is an excellent cover of all along the watchtower

so friday night i saw ustad amjad ali khan, sarod god. he played this composition, which is one of my favourites, and one of the first pieces which hooked me onto indian classical music. enjoy. its a bit different to the mishra kafi i posted earlier.
he also played the imperial raga darbari, which i would love to post for you, but its way to big and i dare not take the scissors to such a mighty raga.
