BLINK 182

Another concert experience for a post. I've given up studying for this exam if you haven't noticed.Being a long time fan of Blink-182 and associated acts (eg. Boxcar Racer) it was about time that I get some tickets to show my support. The latest, and so far, last album they were promoting was the self-titled album that came out in November, 2003. More mature, it was different but still hit the charts as nicely as it's previous albums, especially in Canada, probably due to its extensive fanbase. Got the tickets, invited a few friends. There were no fronting bands (don't think they needed them anyways). Their show was incredible, and as far as I know from watching previous youtube live performances, they had a whole different way of going about this show. At one point (and probably at the point in their career where they couldn't afford/didn't care) they relied on their offensive gags and audience interaction to entertain. I was expecting this but all of a sudden there was lighting, lasers, intense backgrounds and props. This, as well as the usual comedic display, really made for a properly cool experience. What really made the show was during a small break (since it was a long show due to no frontmen) Travis and his drums began rising from a platform in the middle of the audience doing an incredible solo. Love. It's too bad they had to break up. It seems they were almost competing to outdo each other afterwards with other bands. (+44 and Angels and Airwaves) Tom during a concert even announced that he was glad he wasn't part of a 'gay pop punk band' anymore. At least he's still as mature as The Mark, Tom and Travis Show's 'Family Reunion'.But! I will be there when they do thier reunion tour to express their offensive acts. No matter how old they, or I, am.
