It's ok. It's NOTHING compared to last year. Last year lineup is almost impossible to beat.

I saw Roger Waters perform Dark Side of the Moon at the United Center (crappy venue)in Chicago last summer. I think Coachella will make a much better environment. Portishead is this year's Manu Chao, but they're still trying to keep it trendy with great indie-esque acts like Death Cab for Cutie, Cold War Kids, and the Raconteurs among many others. And all the kids who remember the Bittersweet Symphony video from their childhood can see the reunited Verve - but will they know the rest of the music - and also - can they really be a headliner when Jesus and Mary Chain Chain wasn't last year? It just doesn't seem to have the diversity of last year.

Jack Johnson..well that's um...alright...we're not at Bonaroo...but I'm not a hater.

AND FINALLY GET OVER IT - RADIOHEAD IS NOT PLAYING COACHELLA.

If you're than whiny just wait until they release the list for this...COACHELLA PROMOTERS CONFIRM

Oh and:

Artist: Album: Track:

Wow, I'm really overdue for a post here. Many musical updates/information.

FIRST and Foremost, Thank you MOG. I just won a limited edition CD of the new Modest Mouse album with deluxe slipcase and 32-page booklet. I never win shit, so this is pretty damn cool. Thanks and Keep on moggin.

Side Note, I will be seeing Modest Mouse come August at Lollapalooza 2007, so this works out perfectly. Speaking of which, The lineup is out, I'm sure you've allk heard, but even if you hadn't:

Pearl Jam, Daft Punk, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Muse, Iggy & the Stooges, Modest Mouse, Interpol, My Morning Jacket, Satellite Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Snow Patrol, the Roots, Patti Smith, Kings of Leon, the Black Keys, Regina Spektor, Spoon, Cafe Tacuba, Lupe Fiasco, TV on the Radio, Pete Yorn, G. Love & Special Sauce, Paolo Nutini, Amy Winehouse, LCD Soundsystem, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Silverchair, Femi Kuti, Yo La Tengo, Slightly Stoopid, the Hold Steady, Jack's Mannequin, Stephen Marley, Sound Tribe Sector 9, M.I.A., Blonde Redhead, Sparklehorse, Sean Lennon, !!!, Blue October, Son Volt, Motion City Soundtrack, Dread Zeppelin, Polyphonic Spree, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Peter Bjorn & John, Silversun Pickups, Cansei De Ser Sexy (CSS), the Rapture, the Wailers, Roky Erickson & the Explosives, Tapes 'n Tapes, Heartless Bastards, the View, the Cribs, the Fratellis, Ghostland Observatory, Tokyo Police Club, Rhymefest, Soulive, Cold War Kids, Annuals, Fields, Electric Six, Jim Noir, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Sam Roberts Band, the Black Angels, Charlie Musselwhite, Kinky, I'm from Barcelona, Aqueduct, Juliette and the Licks, Dios Malos, Viva Voce, David Vandervelde, Los Campesinos!, Chin Up Chin Up, Ryan Shaw, Colour Revolt, the Satin Peaches, Illinois, Arckid, Mickey Avalon, The 1900s, Bang Bang Bang, Bound Stems, High Class Elite, John Paul White, Tom Schraeder, Carey Ott, Matt Roan.

Many different opinions on this. Overall, I'm very excited. It's got a really indie feel (ex. interpol, snow patrol)to it with a few random people (daft punk, iggy pop) thrown in. Should make for an interesting composite. The 2006 lineup was a bit more rock oriented (whatever that means to you)but regardless, it's going to be a good and fun three days.

So on the concert scene I have been to two amazing shows in the past month.

  1. Decemberists - Riviera Theatre, Chicago April 19th 2007. INCREDIBLE. Just re-affirmed my belief that the Decemberists are one of today's most original bands. My bold claim is that I think the best lyrics today are being written by Colin Meloy and the Decemberists. You make up your own mind.

  1. Ben Gibbard/David Bazan. Metro, Chicago May 4th, 11pm show.

Again, amazing. Mog's very own Ben Gibbard put on an incredible solo show. Pedro the Lion's frontman David Bazan put on a great opening act. (Ben also played drums for Pedro on their 2001 or 2002 tour). Really good stuff, Death Cab is a very personal band so I always enjoy their stuff. One of my highlights was Ben doing a cover of Neil Young's Harvest Moon. Bazan did a nice cover of Hallelujah too. I didn't get home till 3 something but overall, great night. Thanks Ben. Below is a new song I liked.

Finally, I've hopped on the Amy Winehouse train. It's really good. It's tagged on this post.

Adios for now.
