Where to begin? It's become all too common these days to find a million sound-alike bands to every good ground-breaking band. Some have said that Emery falls into the former category, though I would contend that the latter is a better suited home for them. Having seen their predecessor Thursday in a live setting as well, I must contest that Emery's stage sound far surpasses the sound-alike status that so many of today's bands champion. Their concert this past Monday in Dallas evidenced this to me, though I must admit I enjoyed their acoustic set a few months ago almost better. They were energetic, on key, and though the crowd was made up predominately of children under the age of 18, they still achieved a semi-mature energy. Now having said that, the other bands that played in this particular show seemed weak and almost like freshmen in the music scene. These bands, though initially generic in nature do have potential to define their sound... hopefully in the near future however, Emery will choose to play with bands that are closer to the same level musically and lyrically.

My Trusted MOGs
there must be a drought of bands like them that meet their level of talent. it's my first time hearing it and it's a bit different in the ways you describe (i can imagine acoustic would be good), a little more mature than their peers.
