The First Ever Issue of shaking like a mountain
It’s hard to believe that our little baby hatched just a few short months ago. But here it is, walking on its own two feet ... and look at how fast she’s growing. This past January, the germ for shaking like a mountain was planted. Shortly after, and with the help of a certain Known Human, we began to design our online home, albeit still not entirely sure as to what we were getting ourselves into. Once we bribed and coerced our talented group of contributing editors to jump on board, we knew it was time to take the next step. Within minutes of sending out a call for submissions, emails started pouring in from all parts of the world. The editors@shakinglikeamountain.com address was literally only active for 15 minutes before the first submission hit our inbox. We were elated, but also terrified. This little idea of ours suddenly became real. shaking like a mountain was, well, shaking. We had to exile ourselves to Ireland to put the issue together. In short, we had to get away from you lot, you writers, to put things in order. Pleased we are then to bring this out now, the poetry of Mary Worthington, fiction of Diane Dees and the non-fiction of Peter Wortsman, all-stars among all the other all-stars featured in this issue. Finally, we are pleased to feature an excerpt from Michael Patrick MacDonald's absorbing memoir, Easter Rising, another exploration of the power of music to shake the mountain, or at least one's inner-landscape, to make a difference. And with that, and only a few bumps and bruises faced along the way, we present to you the first ever issue of shaking like a mountain.Come see us at www.shakinglikeamountain.com
