Best Song... Ever: Clarence Carter -- Strokin'

We proudly present a new recurring series entitled "Best Song... Ever." Each entry will detail a particularly amazing piece of songsmithing. Each song will be crowned the 'Best Song Ever' until further notice. Upon subsequent posts, that song will relinquish its grandiose title. "But what are the criteria?" you ask. The answer is simple: My sole discretion and indefatigable taste. If you must know, I have my finger on the pulse of the musical zeitgeist.

And so, without further ado, I present the first song to be inducted - Clarence Carter's "Smokin'." This song is so unquestionably great that I won't even try to put forth a cogent argument regarding its unparalleled merits. It hits on all cylinders, people. If you have the guts to make a song better than this, by all means, do so. You will fail.
