In the USA, DIY-ers mainly made singles in the garage/punk days (not eps or lps). This pic sleeve is a rare one.
Marilyn Mattson had looks, but looks like her 45 was lost in the shuffle, first released in June 1967 on the small Hollywood label, Allied Records.
The haunting, echo-tracked "He Means So Much To Me" with nearly spoken vocals was reissued on Girls in the Garage Vol. 8 (cd + vinyl).
Not the world's greatest oddball B-side, maybe not the worst either.

I like it. The minor key doesn't hurt. Did the realize the keyboard solo was almost lost in the mix? That adds to the aura of mystery.

I'm puzzled as to why there are so few comments on your excellent posts on obscurities like this. Ok, not that puzzled. When I post on obscure artists, reaction is also muted. But I certainly appreciate it. Where else would I hear (and see) these oddities? Marilyn may've had the looks, but she looks, and sings, as stiff as a board.

I like the lyrics "My eyes are filling up with tears Collected from the last few years"
what sheer poetry!
