MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

(71)

Still performing today, Wanda Jackson has enjoyed a long career with hits and misses in both the rock(abilly) and country genres. This interesting 1967 novelty straddles both sides of Wanda Jackson, while mainly a country song, it includes fuzztone FX on the guitar.

Much appreciated. Wanda is a rockabilly legend, but my exposure to her has been limited to a few tracks on compilations, none of which really caught my fancy. I need to hear more.

I love her pronunciation...it's cute. "If yer smort, yule turn him looos..."Wow - heavy moaning psychedelic guitar! Smooth, smooth fuzz tone.Wonder who it was playing, was it Nashville or Hollywood?

There's a good documentary around that I saw on PBS, about the rockabilly women...I forget the name of it. But it's a good crash course on the subject and includes Wanda. Another great song of hers was Fujiyama Mama ("and I'm just about to blow my top") She was known as the little girl with the gritty voice....similar in power to Brenda Lee.
