Though they made stickers which read, Fanny: The end of an era, they were the first all-female rock band signed to a major label (Warner Bros) and were the harbingers of things to come.
Fanny was not created by a Svengali-type producer such as Shadow Morton, Phil Spector or Kim Fowley (The Runaways). Their talent and originality was their own, earning them respect in a male-dominated industry.
They did have a top producer, Richard Perry, but they had chosen their career path back in 1965 by forming an all-girl group called The Svelts which evolved into Wild Honey.
George Harrison suggested the name change "Fanny" to Richard Perry, only later when touring the UK did the band find out the word had a more scandalous meaning overseas.
