This is one of the better "Paisley Underground" bands, The Things, whose track "Trip To My House" on the 1984 Battle of the Garages Vol. 3 LP was left off the CD (re-released in 1994 as Battle of the Garages Vol. 2).

Totally psycho rad describes it perfectly. "Trip to My House" works for me. So, uncle creepy, when was it from, the 60s or later? Any compilation series like this, such as Pebbles or the like, I've hesitated spending money on for fear that it would be uneven unlike Rhino's Nuggets. So I'm curious to know how many of the cuts on Battle of the Garages, Vol. 3 are keepers, in your humble opinion?

Really outstanding, from the McGuinn'esque vocals to the twist on the "Stepping Stone" chord progression. Like 1965 compressed into two-and-a-half minutes....

I checked my file of keepers from the vinyl volumes of Battle of the Garages, and it looks like a couple others didn't make the CD rereleases either...
"Everybody Knows But Me" by The Sharp Turn the most fuzzed-out garage of my picks... why that didn't make it puzzles me...
The others left off such as "Trip To My House" by The Things, maybe they aren't garage in the strict sense (a member of The Untold Fables wrote a reply suggesting that was why The Things didn't make the CD rerelease).
These are are '80s bands (often representing early stuff they did on the Voxx-Bomp label before they moved on) by the way, and the series compiles singles and tracks that were only on these comps.
Definitely spotty, but there are imho a few keepers. In some cases the bands have better tracks on their own albums, but sometimes the track on the comp(s) is the band's best or only song.
For instance, "She's Not Mine" by The Mystery Machine (a personal favorite on Battle of the Gargages) seems to be their sole release, though it's also on the recent (and perhaps better) 2 CD compilation Destination: Bomp!.
You might do better with the Children of Nuggets (Rhino) box set, which collects late '70s - mid-'80s garage bands on 4 discs (Amazon offers used copies at half price) but no compilation (except maybe Pre-Punk!) is without some weak tracks...
In any case, while not every paisley or '80s (not to mention the whole new wave of '00s psych bands such as Howlin Rain, Wooden Shjips, Mammatus and Comets on Fire) garage band is buzz worthy, plenty of them were (and some still perform), such as The Cynics, Fuzztones, Lyres, Rain Parade, Chesterfield Kings, Three O'Clock, Vipers, Gravedigger 5, Morlocks, Brood, Plasticland, Pandoras and more.

"Mind Gardens" is a keeper.

IMHO, Rhino's twelve Nuggets LPs have nary a dud.

Great stuff!
