Coney Island of the mind

Circus psych with harpsichords in the mix... yes!Said by some to be the ultimate acid album of all time, The United States Of America certainly deserves a listen. The expanded SUNDAZED reissue is the one to get."The price is rightthe cost of one admission is your mind"That's Dorothy Moskowitz singing an issued version of the opening number. With fewer fx, it gets down to business a little sooner... perhaps they were working with less than 500 mikes on this take.

  2. BerkeleyBob says But I can't hear the cowbell! Seriously, this take is cleaner, with more bottom end and better mixed than what I recall (dimly) of the original vinyl release which is somewhere in the vast vaults. It's enough to get me to search out the sundazed re-issue, although not every remastered etc. current vinyl release is great. (Crosby's If I could recall comes to mind.) Give the United States credit; along with Earth Opera they were there early and heavy. BerkeleyBob
