Why not watch some television?
Turn it up, the sound quality - whether from the p.o.v. of a mid-60's audience or henceforth - is surprisingly good.
If you find the (post-Pigpen) Dead's tunes too mellow, meandering or fans fanatical;
and you lean towards raw acid rock excursions, if anything, from the lingering
Summer of Love/Haight live/Dead...
These previews feature highlights of unreleased or public performances (available for non-profit streaming in unedited versions at the Internet Archive or on Mog, youtube until officially released), gateway diamonds in the rough that ungrateful, undead heads might dig.
Live tapes of the Dead recorded throughout their 30 years include very few from 1966 and 1967.

Cool! Takes ya back...
By the way, love the mid-Sixties TV frame!
Harry Reasoner says: "they object to the ills which beset society: war, social hatreds, money-grubbing, spiritual waste; but their remedy is to withdraw into private satisfaction". Is that what we did? If so, did it work? Discuss.
"Is that what we did? If so, did it work? Discuss."
...............way over simplified.
Yeah, I'd have to agree...of course, that "hippie" program was made right in the thick of things, in 1967 or 8, as I recall.
