This is one of the better "Paisley Underground" bands, The Things, whose track "Trip To My House" on the 1984 Battle of the Garages Vol. 3 LP was left off the CD (re-released in 1994 as Battle of the Garages Vol. 2).

Totally psycho rad describes it perfectly.  "Trip to My House" works for me.  So, uncle creepy, when was it from, the 60s or later?  Any compilation series like this, such as Pebbles or the like, I've hesitated spending money on for fear that it would be uneven unlike Rhino's Nuggets.  So I'm curious to know how many of the cuts on Battle of the Garages, Vol. 3 are keepers, in your humble opinion?

Really outstanding, from the McGuinn'esque vocals to the twist on the "Stepping Stone" chord progression. Like 1965 compressed into two-and-a-half minutes....

Artist: Album: The El Cheapo (Arf! Arf!) Sampler Track: Enjoy Yourself .
Other Tags: pre-punk, psychedelic

Pre-Punk is the name of our compilation series, contents averaging 25 tunes (circa 1964 -1984) per volume.

These are given away free, in person, in San Francisco.

Pre-Punk vols. include artists that listeners of any age, sex or p.o.v.  may already be familiar with,  as well as selections they might be hearing for the first time, a mix to be enjoyed in either case.

Pre-Punk Vol. 8 - contents reviewed in brief.

Among the stranger tracks on vol. 8 such as "Mary Is Alone" by Dry Ice, "Enjoy Yourself" by Dragonfly and "I Need Her" by The Dominions is more accessible fare that musically savvy Mogsters might instantly relate to such as...

Bloc Party ("Helicopter"), Rolling Stones ("Who's Driving Your Plane"), Plimsouls ("A Million Miles Away"), Dave Clark Five ("I Need Love"), Jeff Beck Group ("Tallyman"), The Standells ("Try It"), Republica ("Ready To Go"),  Electric Light Orchestra ("Lonesome Lullaby"), Robin Trower ("Gonna Be More Suspicious"), Guess Who ("You Know He Did"), Bachman-Turner Overdrive ("Give It Time"), Bobby Fuller Four ("King Of The Wheels").

Pre-Punk Vol. 8 starts off with "Intro '66" (1984) by the Zebra Stripes - a Paisley Underground band whose lead vocalist provides the perfect Prepunk preamble in her peculiar patois.

Check out "Intro '66" at the end of the video in the comment box below.

Meanwhile click on the little red triangle above and "Enjoy Yourself".

Very cool!  I like the variety.....when I saw the artists/tracks listed, I saw what you meant by the appeal for those of all ages, (both) sexes, etc.  Thanks for sharing!

Dragon Fly & Zebra Stripes

Here's more from Dragonfly - they looked like that before Kiss came along - and after that, the intro for PrePunk Vol. 8, conveniently entitled "Intro '66" by Zebra Stripes.

Glad you like the variety jaggerandrea, you sussed the wide appeal as intended!

Thanks to Quentin Tarentino's typically tip-top soundtrack for Resevoir Dogs, everyone within range has by now heard the 1970 Dutch hit "Little Green Bag" by George Baker Selection.

The opening bass riff worked perfectly for the "hero walk" in the film when the main cast looks all cool strolling by with wayfarers on their mugs.

The original 1970 video for the song is visually similar but far less interesting.

The real question is, does anything else by George Baker Selection come even close to "Little Green Bag"?

Not quite, but I did find 2 tracks from the 1970 Little Green Bag album that aren't too shabby.

"Fly" is one, and the other is the closing track, "Goodbye", offered here in slightly shorter length.

Dermahrk,

You mean the guy with the wide face, not the green bag, right?

Either way, both have something in common with Gumby!

The above Yardbirds clip was posted in tribute to your recent post comparing the original "Train Kept A-Rollin" by Tiny Bradshaw along with Johnny Burnette Trio and The Yardbirds (& other) versions:
