I freely admit that I pirate music, and I'm not sorry. There's a lot of mediocre releases constantly coming out, and while my opinion of "mediocre" may not be the same as yours, I'm just not wealthy enough to buy everything that I read about before I can hear the whole thing (several times). I love MOG recommendations, but nothing anybody can write will convince me to blindly purchase it.
SO in the last 72 hours I went on a huge downloading binge and got anything I could think of and anything recommended by other moggers. Now that the weekend is over, I've had a chance to actually listen to some of them, and these are my thoughts so far on what I stole:
The Rapture- Pieces of the People We Love -blows- -ehhh- whelming -I gotta hear that again- -I'm buying it!-
I get a disco-pop-trash vibe from this record, and I don't mind a little disposable fun now and then. However, the lyrics are atrocious. Ok, Rapture, I get it: "your your your your mustang ford". While I really want to get myself into Get Myself Into It, with it's super-catchy singalong chorus, lyrics such as "holiday/get away//I feel funny/children's money/" kinda ruin it for me. Still, it's great party music, and I feel alright when it's on.
Chad Vangaalen- Skelliconnection -blows- -ehhh- -whelming- I gotta hear that again -I'm buying it!-
This definitely needs multiple listens. Chad's voice is great on most tracks, but on other tracks it sounds like he's, I dont know, stretching his range. He tricks us into believing that we're in for some run-of-the-mill folk with the quiet opener "Sing Me 2 Sleep", but the next track, Flower Gardens, kicks that idea into oblivion. The rest of Skelliconnection never rocks as much, but it's quite good. I'm intruiged and have already listened to it twice back-to-back, and I'm doing it again.
Justin Timberlake- Future Love Sex Sounds blows -ehhh- -whelming- -I gotta hear that- -buying it!-
Why did I even bother.

Man people won't shut up about how "good" Sexyback is at work, so I went for it. Crap, total crap. I will never trust co-workers again!
My Trusted MOGs
I like the sexyback single. Haven't heard more.
It's just about goddamn time someone made some filthy dance music. Dammit. :)

I was hurt about JT's record, too; I love the first half- the rest...not so much. And I'm sorry you weren't pleased by The Rapture :( but I am 100% certain that Ladytron will redeem me.

Sam: I love a good pop track (read: Toxic by BS) but I don't think Sexyback lives up to what it's trying to say. Sexy didn't go anywhere--it's all over TV, movies, and music.
Viva: I enjoyed the Rapture, but it's got no replayability. It's a one and done to me. Still trying to find Ladytron anyway, so my opinion will be complete first impression.
My Trusted MOGs
Haha! "one and done". I can't do it with _Witching Hour_, but I have another Ladytron record I could dish you via the IM service of your choice...lemme know!
My Trusted MOGs
Viva I have Witching Hour loading up already (finally found it YAY), and I feel that I should stick with your inital recommendation. Still no Soul Coughing tho.....
My Trusted MOGs
Awesome, you tracked it down! As for Soul Coughing, I can remedy that as well.
My Trusted MOGs
I'll need some time w/ladytron...if the Soul Coughing keeps failing tho, I'll seek your remedy!
My Trusted MOGs
Hope you like the Ladytron...their last album was better I think...but Witching Hour is no slouch.
My Trusted MOGs
Thank you for your honesty, Tyler, I pirate music as well! I can't afford to buy stuff, but, you know, I do purchase albums when I can (1) find them and (2) afford them.

I'll give another thumbs up for Ladytron, too. Haven't heard much, but liked what I have.
Now, as for Justin's pop track and sexy not having gone anywhere - Sure. But like I said, a filthy dance track, man! Ala "Erotic City" or "Sexy M.F." - it's just one of those sweaty low-lit loud dance club tracks. The cuffs and whips and stuff.
IMO. :)
