  2. two rivulets says haha. i guess......yeah, you're right. romulus is amazing. but i'm still sticking with my pick. (if i may, let me reminisce for a moment) the first time i heard "to be alone with you", it was really cold in my dorm room for some odd reason and i was really freaking cold ro say the least. shivering, in fact. and i put in seven swans which i had just purchased that day and by chance skipped directly to this track. the creepy thing is, i started feeling warm and cozy again by the time the chorus was hushed. yeah, it's weird and maybe i'm getting too sentimental. but that song did something for me that i can't explain. it was the first time a song really moved me since "let down" by radiohead. the first time i heard that......tears. i know, i'm a pussy.

  3. Manos says How DARE you stick with your pick! Just kidding. The fact is, I hadn't heard anything off Seven Swans. Now (because of your post) I have, and it's very cool.

  4. two rivulets says yeah, seven swans is his more outspoken spiritual cd, i think. but i enjoy it more than illinois. one, it sounds more intimate/personal and, two, it doesn't have almost thirty songs on it. that's a problem i had with illinois, i think it had too much fat on it.

  5. tybees says My vote is definitely Decatur, although Romulus is a close second. Hate her, decatur, take her, alligator, operator, aviator....it's almost funny. I agree that the lyrics aren't necessarily saying anything deep, but any song that can use a word like "emancipator" and still be good is highly commendable IMHO.

  6. cherbonsy says I'm a little late to this, but I'll cast my vote for "The Transfiguration." There are a lot of other Sufjan songs I love (most named above) but having been raised Catholic with a soft spot for waltzes, I'm smitten. There's an awesome live version available "here":http://www.kexp.org/aspnet_client/KEXPViewMediaGroup.aspx?rID=2290&pID=528&fID=539&artist=SZ along with a few other numbers.
