Heritage (Retro) Metal

What's up with the Heritage Metal genre? I just added The Sword to my collection. It's rad! With songs like Winter's Wolves, The Horned Godess, Iron Swan (those are in sequential order on the album by the way) what's not to love? Okay, I'm now going to split my time between Freak Folk and Heritage Metal. Why bother with everything in between? The Sword play 7/12 in San Francisco @ Slim's. And for you puffmagic, 7/14 in Portland @ Dante's.

    joshuaseth says Word I'm down for some Heritage Metal. Especially with a fresh Mucha Style Illo on the cover like that and the Roger Dean-ish logo. Looks like maybe some metalheads are going to crash a RenFair! RRRRaagh!

    Maxroc says For additional Heritage Metal jollies, check Early Man and, provided you can handle some sreaming and don't ask silly questions like "are they serious?," 3 Inches of Blood. Also not to be missed are the flag-bearers of the Power Metal renaissance- DragonForce and Cellador. Not much hipster cred, but a damn good time nonetheless.
