Today I saw a headline that said that whites would be in the minority by 2042. WHO CARES?!? Why is it so important that we be the big man on campus? We are all human. Who cares if we're white, black, yellow or purple? As most of you have probably heard, "We're all pink on the inside."
Now I'm no political expert, and I never claim to be, but can someone explain to me why this is making headline news? Does anyone else think that it's not the color of our skin that classifies us, but our ideas and actions?

If we were able to choose our skin colour, I'd honestly go with purple.
I am going to be optimistic and say that it made headline because it's something different, and a change from the situation there is now.

Let's hope their only trying to distract us from the current state of insanity our planet seems to be in right now.
And I think you'd look good in purple :)

I thought this was an odd headline as well -nice to hear someone else think that as well.

That's another hopeful and plausible scenario.
One day science will make enough steps for me to put that theory of yours to the test :o)

A perhaps rather belated response, but better late than never expressing my kudos for your post there, Trend.
Interesting choice of band/song to accompany it, too, particularly considering the struggles the Chili Peppers had in their early, early (1980s) days, over downright ridiculous criticisms (read: bulls---) of them sounding either "too black" for some and/or "too white" for others (which, I remember frontman Anthony Kiedis on one occasion giving the hilarious but highly appropriate bulls--- reply that, although the band didn't set out for any particular "white" or "black" sound, his privates were "indeed the blackest of anyone's in the band"...).
If stories like the one which made you write your post, in this day and age, make headlines, then I assume it's because somewhere some editor(s) considered it enough of an "issue" to make it headline news; and if anyone actually considers it an "issue" at all, I personally find that quite worrying.
