As I sit here relaxing on a Tuesday night, windows open - cool breeze stirring the papers on my desk – I can’t help but wonder, ‘Where did all of my summer go?’ The last thing I remember is playing a concert at the local college as summer was beginning. Then, the next thing I knew, I was starting my summer class indicating summer was half over.
I did download a bunch of new music, White Williams, Dr. Dog, and Black Kids are emerging as the top three favorites of summer ’08. I also got my first paying job as a musician this summer! That was exciting. I learned about all the inner workings of musical theater. And I even made a few friends along the way.
It was a fun summer spending time with friends out in the sun, going for joy rides with the windows down blaring Vampire Weekend (it’s REALLY good summer music), but I never once thought that school was approaching. Now, I’m leaving for school in 17 days.
Unfortunately there are (as always) things we all wish we had done. Some of mine that I’ll have to postpone until next year:
-Going to the beach (I usually go to my Uncles in NC. F@!K school! Haha)
-Going to Music Festivals
-Getting a good tan (as it is my left arm is much darker since I spend so much time commuting to and from class)

Faves: Seeing my brother and his family in Monterey for 4th of July weekend; catching Leslie & the Badgers at the Hotel Utah for the first time, and a cold beer after midnight on a friend's back deck in the Brentwood Hills, overlooking the L.A. basin.
Unfulfilled wishes: Unable to visit Big Sur because of the fires.

aww sad reminder...summer is almost over isn't it!? i wish i had traveled a bit more, like short weekend trips. my favorite moments were my few beach trips, visiting my mom and enjoying the parks with good company. (dr. dog and vampire weekend were also summer time staples for me!)
