Australia is SORRY.

Australia has formally apologised with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd reading a speech in Federal Parliament this morning."We apologise for the laws and policies of successive parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these, our fellow Australians. It lends particular emphasis to the stolen generations. We apologise especially for the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, their communities and their country. For the pain, suffering and hurt of these stolen generations, their descendants and for their families left behind, we say sorry. And for the indignity and degradation thus inflicted on a proud people and a proud culture, we say sorry."It took 41 parliaments to get here - And this song seems kinda fitting. Indigenous musician Kev Carmody and renowned Australian musician Paul Kelly, recount the 1966 Gurindji Walkoff, a strike commenced by the traditional custodians of Daguragu/Wave Hill in the Northern Territory that lasted for eight years. What began as a fight for equal working conditions evolved into the much larger fight for Aboriginal land rights, which took on national momentum.
