I decided this year that I would take my winter break in winter (as opposed to my usual getaway in late May/early June).Unfortunately, I didn't book until the last minute and what with reading week and the increased demand created by our hellish winter, a lot of vacation packages were sold out.I'd heard good things about the Mayan Riviera so I asked the travel agent to see about booking me into a resort there.This was my first trip to Mexico and I have to say I did enjoy it. The resort was clean, the food was good, the staff were friendly and the weather - perfect. Sunny and high 20s, low 30s nearly every day.I got a chance to visit the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza which was really enjoyable. Looking forward to going back sometime.I don't know much about Mexican music and didn't hear any at the resort, but here's a track from a Putumayo compilation, "Music from the Coffee Lands".
