Shaved kitty wants to dance

Poor Maxwell. He doesn't like to be groomed and as he's a long-haired cat, the fur tends to mat. We get a groomer in to brush out the coat and trim his nails on a regular basis, but our regular groomer kept postponing visits and finally just didn't show up on a scheduled date.

By this time, the little guy had huge clumps of fur stuck to his skin and you could tell it was uncomfortable for him. A bit of searching on the internet led us to a new groomer who was available the next week. When she saw him she knew that brushing and combing wasn't an option, so out came the clippers.

I had to hold him still during this time and I can tell you, I never knew a cat could be that hairy. I had his fur on my shirt, my pants, and in my eyes, ears and nose. Thank god we did this in the bathroom or there would have been cat hair from one end of the apartment to the other.

Anyway, Max now looks like one of those show cats. All that's left of his fur is his mane, tail and "boots". I thought he'd be really upset, but he sulked for about half an hour and then became really playful chasing his mouse and trying to pick a fight with his brother (who doesn't mind grooming and almost never mats).

He seemed to perk up when I put on some songs with energy, like this one or maybe it was just me transferring my energy (and relief the ordeal was over) to him...
